About VAN ZYL’S AUTOBODY

CH van Zyl’s Panel Beaters was founded in January 1980 by Mr Hennie van Zyl and was operated as a sole proprietary. The business was situated in Price street in the Watloo Industrial Area. In 1983 a property was identified and purchased where a panel shop was erected and the business moved over to the new premises in December 1984. In 1989 a second premise across the existing premises was purchased and a paint shop was built together with an Aer-O-Cure spray booth. During 2003 the sole proprietary was changes to a Close Corporation to accommodate more shareholders and to fast track the BEE status of the business. As the transfer costs to move all the fixed assets would be a huge financial expense on the business, it was decided to keep all the assets in the sole proprietary. As the business always traded as CH van Zyl’s Panel Beaters it was decided in 2007 to change the trading name of the business to Van Zyl’s Autobody as it is more modern and compliments the business in its current form. In September 2020, we conformed with the country’s BBBEE-transformation requirements by taking on another black partner resulting in us being a 52 % black owned company of which 32 % is black woman owned, with a Level Two B-BBEE procurement recognition level.
